‘But I don’t want to go among mad people,’ Alice remarked.
‘Oh, you can’t help that,’ said the Cat. ‘We’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.’
‘How do you know I’m mad?’ said Alice.
‘You must be,’ said the Cat. ‘or you wouldn’t have come here.’
Continental Types has finally conquered the 25man Madness of Deathwing encounter. This encounter would have been completed long ago, but the ever-present struggle to maintain solid raiding numbers has held us back, forcing us to settle for 10man Madness of Deathwing kills since our first, all the way back on January 9th.
Our first night of 25man attempts took place on January 25th, where we had our first Spine of Deathwing kill followed by a total of six Madness attempts with great progress. We just simply ran out of time on this night. We had one fantastic attempt on our next raid, January 30th, and it was clear a kill was in our sights… sadly we were not able to attempt any more due to disconnects*. Insult to injury, the Dragon Soul 5% buff was coming the very next day. This was very disheartening for us not only because we knew we were so close, but we didn’t want anyone to ever question if we used it or not.
It wasn’t until tonight that we were able to get the raiding numbers we needed to give it another attempt… and not only did we attempt, we killed (one-shot), and it was with the 5% buff disabled for prosperity’s sake.
So with this kill, we have completed the 25man Dragon Soul raid. We shot out of the gates fast, killing four bosses in the first week of this new raid tier, but then ran into the DPS hurdle that is Ultraxion. We dropped to 10man raiding to power through Ultraxion and to help get through the holidays, but it’s been a struggle to get back to full strength since then. In this last week it appears the ship has finally righted.
What’s in store for Continental Types now? While we wait for Mists of Pandaria we will continue to raid Dragon Soul with some heroic encounters mixed in, throw together some Dragon Soul alt runs… some will also run older content, and some will enjoy the extra and well-deserved time off. Congratulations Continental Types on another successful tier, and for it not being by the skin of our teeth!

* Not only is it hard to maintain numbers, it’s hard to keep all those that show up online!
