Continental Types held its second annual guild meetup at Blizzcon, and even though the convention itself was just “meh,” those of us present had a blast spending time with our fellow guild members! Putting faces to the voices you hear almost everyday in vent is an interesting experience (yes, Dunzou does speak!), and getting to know your fellow guild members in-person is priceless.
Our first meetup occurred last year simply because we had a handful (yes, about 5) people in the area. This year, however, we blew that number out of the water, with close to 20 current and former guild members attending our guild dinner on Friday, October 22 at Buca di Beppo.
After dinner we all made the two Vegas-style block walk to our favorite dessert destination – Joe’s Italian Ice! Unfortunately, when we got there, we realized we were 30 minutes past closing time. Silly us, not paying attention to how long we stayed at Buca!
Discouraged, but quickly ressing after our wipe at Joes, we formed up for a quick guild snapshot. However, in the middle of our photo session, a random guy in a suburban drove up and started to take our picture as well. He started to talk to us, and when we lamented that we missed closing time at our now-traditional dessert locale, he yelled out “well, it’s open now!” That’s right, the owner of Joe’s saw this big group of yahoos taking pictures outside his shop and reopened just for us! Italian ice for all!
All in all, we had a fantastic time. And we really missed Uglaay….
Guild members, make sure to check out some of the pictures in the forums. For those of you CT folks out there that didn’t get to join us this year, start making plans now to join us next time!
